The event to kill (yet again) rumors of Marco Rubio running for Senate?
U.S. Sen. Marco Rubio and Florida Lt. Gov. Carlos Lopez-Cantera may have just ended any speculation that Rubio might still seek re-election to the U.S Senate.
On June 24, Rubio is set to attend a fundraiser at the ritzy Biltmore Hotel in Coral Gables to help raise money for Lopez-Cantera to replace him in the U.S. Senate. That also happens to be the final day of qualifying to get on the ballot for the Aug. 30 GOP primary.
Beyond Rubio the fundraiser also includes and all-star list of "special guests" to help Lopez-Cantera: U.S. Reps. Carlos Curbelo, Mario Diaz-Balart, Ileana Ros-Lehtinen and Florida Attorney General Pam Bondi.
Rubio has been under increasing pressure from Republican leaders in the U.S. Senate to reconsider getting into the race because they see him as the best chance for Republicans to retain the seat in 2016. Rubio has consistently denied being interested in running for re-election and that he was supporting his friend Lopez-Cantera.
