Trump fundraising letter in Florida: We'll make Mexico pay for the wall
Donald Trump famously eschewed (most) fundraising during the primary but has turned into a small dollar powerhouse in his fight against Hillary Clinton. In Florida this week, Republicans opened their mailboxes to a long letter asking for their support.
These letters are the ultimate insider move, a stream of warnings about the opposition and a call to arms. Trump's letter, sent to us from a voter in Tampa Bay, touches on a crowd favorite: immigration.
"We’re going to build the wall on our southern border to stop illegal immigration," the letter states. "The simple fact is: we don’t have a country if we don’t have a border. And we’re going to get Mexico to pay for it, because deep down, Mexico knows they’re better off with us happy. Right now, our policies make them think we’re happy, but we’re not happy. We’re upset about all this illegal immigration, and we will use our leverage to get them to pay for this wall."
