Trump gave money to Bondi's political committee to 'stave off' investigation, Clinton campaign asserts
Hillary Clinton’s campaign Friday implied Donald Trump made a political contribution to Pam Bondi to “stave off an investigation into the sham Trump University.”
"Donald Trump has been falsely attacking the charity run by President Clinton when it is Trump's own Foundation that has been caught in an actual pay-to-play scandal,” spokeswoman Jennifer Palmieri said.
The Washington Post on Thursday reported that Trump paid a $2,500 penalty to the IRS for using his foundation to give $25,000 to Bondi’s political committee, And Justice for All.
"While the Clinton Foundation has received the highest ratings from independent charitable watchdogs, Donald Trump's use of foundation money to donate to the Florida Attorney General actually broke the law,” Palmieri said. “Worst of all, it appears the payment may have been intended to stave off an investigation into the sham Trump University that has ripped off unsuspecting students."
