Trump threatens military action in Venezuela
Donald Trump on Friday threatened military action in Venezuela, calling it a “mess.”
“This is our neighbor. We’re all over the world and we have troops all over the world that are very, very far away. Venezuela is not very far away and the people are suffering. And they’re dying,” Trump said.
“We have many options for Venezuela, including a possible military option if necessary,” Trump said.
There hasn’t been much reaction from Florida. But Sen. Ben Sasse, R-Neb., scoffed at the idea.
“No. Congress obviously isn't authorizing war in Venezuela,’ said Sasse, a member of the Armed Services Committee. “Nicolas Maduro is a horrible human being, but Congress doesn’t vote to spill Nebraskans' blood based on who the Executive lashes out at today."
