Trump's proposal to ban Muslims from entering U.S. whips up firestorm
Donald Trump today called for a "complete and total shutdown" on Muslims entering the United States, injecting an explosive issue into the presidential campaign that has quickly shifted to national security.
“Donald Trump is unhinged,” Jeb Bush wrote on Twitter. “His ‘policy’ proposals are not serious.”
Marco Rubio: "I disagree with Donald Trump's latest proposal. His habit of making offensive and outlandish statements will not bring Americans together. The next President better be somebody who can unite our country to face the great challenges of the 21st Century."
Lindsey Graham: "He’s putting at risk the lives of interpreters, American supporters, diplomats, & the troops in the region by making these bigoted comments."
Bernie Sanders: “Demagogues throughout our history have attempted to divide us based on race, gender, sexual orientation or country of origin. Now, Trump and others want us to hate all Muslims. The United States is a great nation when we stand together. We are a weak nation when we allow racism and xenophobia to divide us.”
Chris Christie: "This is the kind of thing that people say when they have no experience and don’t know what they’re talking about. We do not need to endorse that type of activity, nor should we. What we need to do is to increase our intelligence capabilities and activity both around the world and in the homeland ..."
Ted Cruz: "That is not my policy. I believe the focus should focus on radical Islamic terrorism."
Hillary Clinton: "This is reprehensible, prejudiced and divisive. @realDonaldTrump, you don't get it. This makes us less safe."
(New York, NY) December 7th, 2015, -- Donald J. Trump is calling for a total and complete shutdown of Muslims entering the United States until our country's representatives can figure out what is going on. According to Pew Research, among others, there is great hatred towards Americans by large segments of the Muslim population. Most recently, a poll from the Center for Security Policy released data showing "25% of those polled agreed that violence against Americans here in the United States is justified as a part of the global jihad" and 51% of those polled, "agreed that Muslims in America should have the choice of being governed according to Shariah." Shariah authorizes such atrocities as murder against non-believers who won't convert, beheadings and more unthinkable acts that pose great harm to Americans, especially women.
Mr. Trump stated, "Without looking at the various polling data, it is obvious to anybody the hatred is beyond comprehension. Where this hatred comes from and why we will have to determine. Until we are able to determine and understand this problem and the dangerous threat it poses, our country cannot be the victims of horrendous attacks by people that believe only in Jihad, and have no sense of reason or respect for human life. If I win the election for President, we are going to Make America Great Again." - Donald J. Trump
The Washington Post notes the poll is "shoddy."
