Vice President Biden to raise money for Pinellas candidate Sink in Coral Gables

Coral Gables is a long way from Pinellas County, but Vice President Joe Biden is scheduled to campaign there for Democratic congressional candidate Alex Sink.

Biden will appear at a Feb. 12  fundraiser at the home of Michael Adler and his wife, Judy, with tickets between $1,000 to $5,000. The fundraiser was first reported by CNN.

Sink and Republican candidate David Jolly are in a heated battle, with millions being spent on campaign ads, for Pinellas county's open congressional seat.

Jolly spokeswoman Sarah Bascom was not impressed.  “I wonder how many lobbyists will be there and solicited for a contribution and how many conversations will be had about the priorities of President Obama and Nancy Pelosi over the communities of Pinellas County.

The special election on March 11 will allow voters in the 13th  Congressional District to elect a replacement to longtime Republican U.S. Rep. C.W. Bill Young.

Libertarian Lucas Overby also is running in the district, which stretches from south Pinellas to Dunedin, with portions of downtown and southern St. Petersburg cut out.
