Winner and loser of the week in Florida politics
Winner of the week
Debbie Wasserman Schultz. The ousted DNC Chair faces a well-funded re-election challenge from Bernie Sanders-backed Tim Canova. Even though she is the frontrunner who might with an interest in playing it safe, she agreed to sit down with Canova for an hour-long televised debate today in south Florida, after initially sounding like she might skip debating. That may or may not be good for her campaign, but it is definitely good for voters.
Loser of the week
Hillary Clinton. Speaking of keeping Florida voters informed, Donald Trump yet again this week showed his willingness to sit down with Florida reporters answer a host of questions. And Hillary Clinton yet again did not. The Democratic nominee has yet to sit with a Florida broadcast journalist. The only Florida newspaper interview she has given in America’s biggest battleground state was to the Orlando Sentinel after the Pulse night club shooting, though she has phoned in four Florida radio interviews.
