Winner and loser of the week in Florida politics
Winner of the week
Blaise Ingoglia. The Republican Party of Florida gave Ingoglia a new term as chairman, then voted behind closed doors to reward him financially. Ingoglia had forgone a salary as chairman after winning election in 2015, but board members voted that he should receive $115,000 in annual pay AND $230,000 in back pay for 2015 and 2016.
Loser of the week
Rick Kriseman. First, the St. Petersburg mayor declared there had been no public health risk from the city sewage spills, then Walmart announced it was pulling its Neighborhood Market out of Midtown. Finally, the Democrat announced he wanted to pull $45,000 in city funding from the annual St. Pete Pride Parade because the route changed.
