Tampa has been the city of conciliatory anarchists
The question is why. The Tampa Bay Times' Leonora LaPeter Anton has worked the streets the last few days to get some answers.
1. Hurricane Isaac chased many of them away.
2. "That $50 million for security and police," said Yoni Miller, 18, of Occupy Wall Street. "That intimidated a lot of people."
3. Tampa's too small.
4. Tampa's too far south.
5. Tampa's too hot.
6. Tampa doesn't have good mass transit.
7. The economy is lousy. "I think basically it's the money issue," said New Hampshire's Greg Gifford. "People don't have the money to be able to travel, to stay outside and buy their own food."
