Duemig found not guilty in DUI case
"It just puts it into perspective that you cannot assume guilt until all the facts have been presented and the legal system is allowed to take its course,'' Duemig said. "I put my faith in the legal system and my faith in the jury. They were able to sift through the fact and fiction of the case and it was the right verdict --- not guilty.'' Duemig said he wanted to address the situation many times on his afternoon radio show over the past 13 months, especially when, he said, other radio hosts in the area took shots at him. "Believe me, I wanted to tell my side of it, but I couldn't,'' Duemig said. "Now I'm just so pleased that it's over and the facts of the case resulted in the not guilty verdict.'' Photo: WDAE-AM
WDAE-AM sports radio talk show host Steve Duemig said it felt like a cloud being lifted from over his head. A six-person jury found him not guilty late Thursday night on suspicion of driving under the influence. Duemig, also known as the "Big Dawg,'' was pulled over by a Pinellas County Sheriff's deputy near the Feather Sound area in St. Petersburg on June 15th, 2008 and arrested on suspicion of DUI.
