Charlie Weis says new job won't hurt Chiefs
Charlie Weis will be the Gators offensive coordinator next season. But right now, Weis is still the Kansas City Chiefs' offensive coordinator, and the Chiefs have a playoff game this weekend against the Ravens and their ferocious defense. Weis, however, insists his future job isn't going to be a distraction for his current job. Weis told the Kansas City Star, "I will do everything I can to help the Chiefs be successful. I'm working for the Chiefs as long as we can make this work. Now that we're in the tournament, I'm hoping we play until February.''
Weis actually has experience going through this sort of thing. He took the Notre Dame head coaching job in 2005 while running the Patriots' offense through the playoffs on the way to a Super Bowl victory.
"Fortunately, after going through it the last time, I had a very good experience. You go to work you work all day. You do everything in preparation (for the game) and at the end of the day, if there's something else that has to be done, that's the time you do it. I've done it before. It was even worse then. I was recruiting from 8 to 11 every night but working up until 8 and on until 2 afterwards to do my job with the Patriots.''
