Crawford could earn more than $100 million
Rays left fielder Carl Crawford could command a seven-year deal in excess of $100-million as a free agent after this season, according to ESPNBoston.com columnist Gordon Edes.
Crawford and Philadelphia's Jayson Werth will be the two biggest outfield names on the market, in Edes' opinion. In addition to his great speed and defense, Crawford (29) is two years younger than Werth, which will increase his value.
The Angels and Red Sox will make runs at Crawford, but Edes expects the Yankees to pursue him hard to improve the top of the order as Derek Jeter, 36, continues to age.
