Farewell Dennis Hopper

Hopper We return from Memorial Day with some sad news that you probably saw over the weekend. Actor Dennis Hopper died Saturday at age 74 from prostrate cancer. He's best remembered for directing and co-writing Easy Rider, as well as his odd-ball portrayals in movies such as Blue Velvet and Apocalypse Now. Of course, sports fans remember him best for his role of Shooter in the movie Hoosiers. Hopper earned an Oscar nomination for "Best Screenplay'' for Easy Rider, but only once in his legendary career was he nominated for an acting Oscar. And it came in Hoosiers, where Hopper was nominated for best supporting actor. (Michael Caine won for his role in Hannah and Her Sisters.)
