Great moments in walking history

Rooker It was 21 years ago today -- June 8, 1989 -- that the Pittsburgh Pirates, led by a Barry Bonds' three-run homer, scored 10 runs in the top of the first at Philadelphia. Pirates announcer and former pitcher Jim Rooker said, "If we lose this game, I'll walk home.'' Turns out, the Pirates did lose that game, 15-11. Rooker made good on his promise of walking the 300-or-so miles from Philly to Pittsburgh. He did it after the season and even made it a charity event.

Speaking of walking, check out this story of a man who walked from Boston to New York for NBA Finals tickets.
