Gruden to call Outback Bowl for ABC
Jon Gruden doesn't have to go very far to work on New Year's Day. Usually jetting around the country calling Monday Night Football games, the Tampa resident and former Bucs coach will be home on Jan. 1, calling a game inside Raymond James Stadium for the first time since being let go by the Bucs before last season. Gruden and MNF partner Mike Tirico will call the 25th anniversary of the Outback Bowl on ABC. Kickoff is 1 p.m.
A lot could change in the coming weeks, but right now, Sports Illustrated is predicting an Outback Bowl matchup between the Gators and Iowa, not that it matters to Gruden.
"Mike Tirico and I love it, New Year's Day, the Big Ten taking on the SEC at the Outback Bowl's 25th anniversary game. One of the best bowl trips in the country and the Big Ten and SEC will get after each other,'' Gruden said. "Mike and I can't wait to be a part of everything.''
