Jim Rome to CBS
Sports personality Jim Rome is leaving ESPN for CBS and its family of networks. After hosting his own show Rome is Burning weekday afternoons on ESPN, Rome will join CBS in a wide-ranging role.
Primarily, he will host Rome, a half-hour show that will air at 6 p.m. weekdays on the CBS Sports Network. The show will debut April 3.
Meantime, Rome also will host a sports and entertainment show on Showtime. That show is expected to debut in the fall. Rome also will be a part of CBS's coverage of the NFL, NCAA basketball tournament, and U.S. Open tennis tournament, where he will contribute with interviews and commentary.
Rome will continue to host his popular daily syndicated radio show, which airs locally from noon to 3 p.m. on 620-AM.
"One of my primary goals when I first got started was that I wanted to work for one of the major networks," Rome told Sports Business Daily. "Its a goal that I never knocked down. When I got an opportunity to do so, it was way too good to pass up.''
