Looking back at Matt Garza's no-hitter

garza.Matt Garza threw the first no-hitter in Rays history Monday night, walking only one and facing the minimum in a 5-0 Tampa Bay victory. Here's how Garza's no-hitter played around the country.

Meantime, Rays fans can sympathize with Tigers fans. The Rays have been no-hit three times in the past two seasons, including being the victim of two perfect games. Anyway, from the other perspective, here's a column from the Detroit Free-Press' Drew Sharp as well as a short story from the Free-Press' Vince Ellis. Oh, sort of lost in Garza's no-hitter was that Tigers manager Jim Leyland was ejected early in the game after a horrible call by second-base umpire Marty Foster. Then, apparently, Foster claimed Leyland intentionally spit on him, sending Leyland into a tirade during and after the game. You can read all about it here.
