Meyers * Saturday Night Live's Seth Meyers has been tapped to host this year's ESPYs. The 18th annual ESPY awards will be televised live from on Wednesday, July 14 at 9 p.m.

* According to USA Today, coverage for the NBA playoffs with have a couple of new wrinkles. TNT, which will show the Western Conference playoffs, will introduce a camera that sits above the three-point line to show if players are outside the arc when shooting threes. Meantime, ESPN/ABC will use the technology that converts live interviews with players at games into studio sit-downs with holograms of those players. But, the best idea is that NBA TV will air 60-minute condensed replays of games. And will stream live post-game news conferences.

* Through the first five Rays games this season, television ratings were up 141 percent over a season ago.

*  Versus averaged 297,000 viewers for the 52 NHL games it broadcast this season, which is slightly down from the 318,000 it averaged for the 56 games it showed last season. However, there was a noticable jump following the Olympics. For the 40 telecasts before the Olympics, the average viewership was 278,000. But for the 12 games after the Olympics, the average viewership was 347,000. Meantime, NBC's ratings for NHL games this season was about the same as last season. The network averaged about 1.6-million viewers per telecast.
