The Nets lose again
The lotteries is the NBA and NHL were put in place to keep teams from purposefully tanking games to secure the No. 1 pick in the draft. In theory, it makes sense, but you still have to feel for the New Jersey Nets. They clearly tried this past season and they clearly were the worst team in the NBA. They won only 12 games -- three fewer than the next-worst team (Minnesota) and 14 fewer than the Washington Wizards. Yet it was the Wizards who won the lottery Tuesday night and get the first crack at taking Kentucky's John Wall. The Nets ended up with the third pick, meaning they could miss out on Ohio State's Evan Turner, who probably will go second to the 76ers. Sports Illustrated has come out with an early mock draft -- which you can read here. SI NBA writer Iam Thomson has USF guard Dominique Jones going 30th overall to the Wizards. About Jones, Thomson writes, "A combo guard with leadership skills, he could eventually come off the bench to fill in for Arenas or Wall. An inconsistent shooter who will need to drive the ball inside as a rookie.''
