Nice shot, wrong goal
Poor Dan Boyle. There aren't too many defenseman in hockey better than the former Lightning blueliner. And there aren't many nicer guys in the NHL either. So you have to feel just sick for him today, although not as sick as he feels after shooting a puck into his own net in Game 3 of the Sharks-Avalanche playoff series Sunday night. If that wasn't bad enough, here's the kicker: it was the only goal of the game. It came less than a minute into overtime. San Jose outshot the Avs, 50-16, in the game, but could not beat Avs goalie Craig Anderson. The Avs now lead the series, 2-1.
Boyle told the San Jose Mercury-News, "I'm going to have nightmares, for sure.''
