Rough day for the Trop

rsz_pt_283921_peas_raysspon_1.jpgIt's not a good time to be Tropicana Field.

On the same day a catwalk prevented Rays shortstop Jason Bartlett from catching an infield popup, allowing the winning run to score in the ninth inning of an 8-6 loss to the Minnesota Twins, the Rays Index blog published an interview with a concession worker who claims that the stand where she works re-uses beer cups.

The worker says a co-worker told her she was instructed by a supervisor to wash out used cups then put them with the unused ones because "spoils were too high.'' In other words, the beer you bought today might have been served in a cup used, then discarded, by someone else last night.

To be fair, the concession worker is not identified, and the Rays chose not to comment on the allegation.

Still, if it's true, gross.

Read the entire interview here.

And this comes on the heels of an ESPN "Outside the Lines'' report that 100 percent of Trop vendors were found to have "critical violations'' of health requirements during a recent inspection report.

Not good, people.
