Rubbing salt in an old wound

Kanell2.No matter which side of the Florida-Florida State divide you stand on, you remember the "Choke at Doak.''

The Gators led 31-3 heading into the fourth quarter in 1994 when the Seminoles staged a furious rally, pulling to within a point on Rock Preston's 4-yard run with less than two minutes remaining. Bobby Bowden decided to kick the extra point, and the game ended in a 31-31 tie.

For Florida fans who might have forgotten, extended the courtesy of ranking the game 36th on its list of the 50 Most Painful Outcomes in College Football History.

The list was based on four factors: the stakes of the game, the importance of the rivalry, the degree of humiliation and the length of time it took for the pain to fade.

No doubt, Gators fans still smart a bit (though three national championships since then probably remove much of the sting).

Seminoles fans? Not so much.

You can find games 31-50 here. The top 30 picks will be released in the coming days.
