Should Halloween be moved?

14

October

pumpkin.A few moms in New Orleans have started a grass-roots movement to get Halloween moved from Oct. 31 to Oct. 30 in and around New Orleans so as not to conflict with the Saints. Check out this story in the Times-Picayune. The moms are worried that fans will be too busy either going to the Saints game or watching at home to pass out candy or take out their children for trick-or-treating. The Saints host the Steelers in a Sunday night game that starts at 7:20 p.m. Central Time.

In an open letter that has been making the rounds on various social networks such as Facebook and Twiiter, the moms wrote:

"This would allow everyone to focus on our kids on Saturday night and our Saints on Sunday night. We take pride in doing things a little differently in New Orleans, and changing Halloween weekend would remove an agonizing choice from our citizens."

The Times-Picayune is running a poll and it seems most are in favor of the plan. Out of nearly 1,900 votes, about 61 percent were in favor of moving Halloween festivities to Saturday. Fortunately, the Saints don't play on Christmas this year, so it appears the birth of Jesus will still be celebrated on Dec. 25th.
