University of Florida shows link between drinking and college football
From the No-Duh department, a University of Florida study reveals there is a connection between drinking and college football. Personally, I wouldn't have needed grant money to come up with that theory, but since the university went through all the trouble, I might as well tell you what they found. Researchers studied towns with good Division I football teams. Then they looked at the number of alcohol-related arrests on normal Saturdays and holidays and compared them to the arrests on Saturdays when those towns hosted college football games. What they found was that normal Saturdays averaged about 12 arrest and game-day Saturdays averaged around 70. Click here to read a brief synopsis on the results.
