Free on Saturday: Dust off, update resume
Lost your job? Worried you might lose one? Got a resume that's dusty and out of date? Here's a free opportunity to get back in the game. This Saturday, Jan. 10, from 1 to 5 p.m., Tampa's University of South Florida College of Business and human resources officers from nearly two dozen local companies will offer a free resume review workshop for people seeking business careers.
The event will include 15-minute reviews by local hiring managers, as well as a 60-minute workshop on how to perfect a resume, led by the USF Career Center. The event is open to anyone (not just USF alumni) seeking to update their business resume, but the focus is on people seeking business careers such as those in accounting, finance, economics, information systems, marketing, advertising, management, international business, sales, operations or management .
"The USF College of Business partners with many area employers and we have reached out to our network of partners to provide this event as a service to the community," said Megan Hendricks (in photo), director of the college's office of employer relations.
The event will be held in the atrium at USF's College of Business, 4202 East Fowler Ave. Free parking is available in the USF Sun Dome lot located directly across from the business school. Here are directions. And here are some helpful guidelines:
1. Reservations are required. Fill out this form before you go.
2. Walk-ins will be seen only on a space-available basis.
3. Participants must bring a resume to the event.
"We will not be crafting resumes for attendees," Hendricks added. "We'll be reviewing resumes and offering tips and suggestions for improvement." More information at (813) 974-8155.
