Former Tampa Bay Devil Rays owner Vince Naimoli's kept a low profile in the Tampa Bay area in recent years. But he's still busy on the philanthropy front elsewhere -- at least where family is involved. Late last month, WesternU of Pomona, Calif.,celebrated "generous contributions "of the Naimoli family with the dedication of the Banfield Veterinary Clinical Center Student Commons in their honor.

Why California? Vince and wife Lenda’s daughter, Lindsey, is a third-year doctor of veterinary medicine student in the College of Veterinary Medicine.

Naimoli’s $250,000 gift went to the Growth Fund for naming rightsto the Banfield Veterinary Clinical Center Student Commons. Vince Naimoli, whose baseball titles include "founder" and "chairman emeritus" of the Tampa Bay Rays, also recently joined the WesternU board of trustees.In a WesternU press release, Naimoli said he is guided by the Bible passage, “To whom much is given, much is expected.”
