Wake up and good morning. WOW is all I can say when I look at this list of 68 companies -- more than 5 dozen firms -- that represent the fastest growing businiesses in the Tampa Bay area (for this list, we're talking Pinellas, Hillsborough, Pasco, Hernando and Citrus counties). What vitality!

It is from companies like these where we will see some of the greatest opportunities ahead in new jobs. Remember, these are the firms that managed some spectacular growth between 2007 and 2010, when this terrible recession was at its worst.

I am talking about the 67 area firms that qualified to be listed on the new Inc. magazine annual list of the nation's 5,000 fastest growing companies. Inc., you may know, has two lists. The prestigious Inc. 500 of the 500 fastest growing companies in America (the first eight companies listed below made that cut). And the much larger Inc. 5000.

Keep in mind this list ranks companies based on their revenue growth between 2007 and 2010, so companies that started small in '07 and grew fast will do better on these lists than already larger firms still growing quickly but obviously at less spectacular rates. That's why you will see some very familiar names lower on this list, including the Carlton Fields law firm, Freedom Health, AVI-SPL and Laser Spine Institute.
