Princess Di dress worn while dancing with Travolta 26 years ago fetches $800,000
Wake up and good morning. This dress worn by Diana, Princess of Wales, when she danced with John Travolta at a 1985 state dinner brought $800,000 at Thursday's auction (AP photo). A hundred people showed up at Waddington's auction house in Toronto to gawk and bid for some of Diana's dresses. They were owned by Tampa's Maureen Rorech Dunkel but had to be sold in the wake of Dunkel's bankruptcy.
The successful bids generally came in under appraisals, perhaps a surprise for those who thought the recent wave of royal fever and the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge’s pending visit to Canada next week could bolster prices. Read more about the auction from the Toronto Star.
