Tampa Bay area firms stand tall in Florida Trend statewide ranking of best companies to work for

2

August

floridasbestcompanieslogo.gifWake up and good morning. Florida Trend's statewide survey of the "best companies to work for" is out in the magazine's August issue and some Tampa Bay area businesses landed high in the rankings. The magazine ranked companies by three size categories (large, midsized and small) in a survey done in conjunction with the firm Best Companies Group, which surveyed businesses that chose to participate. Any firm with at least 15 employees in Florida, including firms based outside the state, could participate at no cost.

The top Tampa Bay area companies are, according to this survey:

* WilsonHCG and Veredus, both of Tampa and both staffing companies, ranked No. 1 and No. 5, respectively among midsized companies (50 to 249 employees) statewide. Tampa law firm Trenam Kemker and Palm Harbor's Alltrust Insurance also landed among the top ten in this size category. Here's a list of the top midsized companies.

* ChappellRoberts, the Ybor City marketing/advertising/public relations firm, Tampa financial services firm Fintech and Tampa consulting firm AgileThought all made the top ten among small firms (15 to 49 employees). Here's a list of the top small companies.

* Among the large firms (250 employees or more), Tampa's Mayer Electric Supply was the highest area firm ranked at No. 17, followed by JSA Healthcare of St. Petersburg at No. 20 The great majority of larger businesses ranked by Florida Trend are headquartered outside Florida -- hardly unusual in a state that is greatly lacking in its own big companies. Here's a list of the top large firms.

Here's the best link to the overall Florida Trend package of top firms to work for. Some newspapers, including the St. Petersburg Times (which like Florida Trend is owned by Times Publishing in St. Petersburg) offer their own annual versions of "best companies" or "best workplaces" (here's the St. Pete Times' latest survey on best Tampa Bay area workplaces -- the next survey starts soon) but they typically do not survey the entire state. That's where the Florida Trend survey shines best.
