Tampa's Sykes: hard to do biz if nationalized
It's a big day for Tampa Bay area companies reporting earnings. Here's Sykes Enterprises' earnings -- they're doing fine in this rough economy. But here's what caught my ear in the conference call today with analysts: this remark from company CEO Chuck Sykes about an unintended consequence of government intervention to ease the recession:
"Also we've seen delays in closing of new business, particularly within the financial services vertical in the United Kingdom. And some of our target clients have been de facto nationalized and decision making has been put on hold."
