Sony prevarication confirmed

Last night IGN had a worrisome article up saying the two PlayStation 3 configurations aren't just about hard drive space: the $499 PS3 with a 20 GB hard drive appears to lack an HDMI connection, a bunch of memory card readers and WiFi.

I didn't see anybody else talking about that, but it looks like Chris Kohler's noticed too, and he's not happy about it: "And worst of all: you don't get HDMI output. Know what that means? You can't watch Blu-Ray movies. Sure, you can watch them in standard definition. But not HD. Isn't that, like, the whole point?"

Like I said earlier, a $500 system isn't a deal killer. But if $500 only buys you the crap system, and if you have to shell out $600 to make it worth it, Sony's making a huge mistake.

UPDATE: Kotaku's got it too. I bet everyone else notices today as well.

i agree 500$ is way too much for a system that does nothing but play videogames and DVDs but people will but it

Just like with the 360, it's pointless to get the core system for just a $100 cheaper. You lose tto much for too little a discount. Score another point for the Wii.
