Wii's old-school games somewhat reasonably priced?

Nintendo's president announced yesterday that downloadable games for the Wii's virtual console will cost between 500 and 1,000 yen in Japan, which translates to $4-$8. That'll probably turn into $5-$10 here, which isn't quite what I was hoping for but still isn't bad. I still think they should have some $1 or $2 downloads of crappy old Nintendo games that nobody would otherwise buy, but as long as they keep the NES/SNES games at $5 and only go to $10 for Nintendo 64 games or the very top tier of SNES titles, I think it'll be ok.

UPDATE: According to IGN, this is just the pricing for new games released via the Virtual Console. Still, that gives a pretty good idea of where Nintendo's headed pricing wise. It leaves a little hope that old games might be cheaper; if it costs $5 to download a new game, then a game that was made 20 years ago and long ago recouped its development costs should cost less. But with some classic NES and SNES games priced at $20 or more for Nintendo's various handhelds, I'm not terribly optimistic we'll see $2 Boy and His Blob downloads.
