Xbox 360 shortage ends; sales drop

This is interesting. Despite all the hype and an end to Xbox 360 shortages, more people bought a PlayStation 2 in May than a 360. In fact, more PS2s have sold each month except April. And in May, 13 of the top 20 selling games were for the PlayStation 2 (five were Xbox 360 games).

The people buying PS2s at this point are probably not crazy gamers. Certainly the $130 price tag would be enticing for those people, but it seems pretty significant that the 360 isn't taking charge. If the 360 sales don't pick up significantly, that one-year head start won't be a big deal when the Wii and PlayStation 3 launch. 250,000 360s sold a month is only 3 million for a whole year. Nintendo and Sony can make that up easy. This console war is going to be interesting.

Let's see how many DS lites sell this month. I hope that beats both PS2 and 360 sales!

At $500 a unit Vs. just about $100 a unit, I'm not suprised that PS2 is still outselling the 360.

I myself, who've been an avid Xbox guy since it's original release, plan on picking up a PS2 in the next month or so and exploring the 100s of titles available from Sony.
