FHP: Hillsborough man in serious condition after SUV hits him on I-75

Christopher Nesbett, 33, suffered critical injuries, troopers reported.

A Gibsonton man is still in serious condition two days after he jumped onto I-75 and was hit by a sporty-utility vehicle.

Christopher S. Nesbett, 33, of Gibsonton was walking southbound on the shoulder of the interstate about 6:40 Friday morning, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

At the same time, troopers said, Milady Antonia Astacio, 54, was driving a Cadillac SRX. The Lithia woman was entering the highway from Gibsonton Drive.

As Astacio turned onto the ramp, Nesbett jumped over the guardrail and entered her path, troopers reported. Her SUV crashed into the man, causing critical injuries.

Responders took Nesbett to Tampa General Hospital for treatment. He remained in serious condition Sunday afternoon, according to the FHP.

Charges are pending, according to the FHP report.
