Tampa Bay metro area ranks No. 4 in country for highest energy use

Looking to "go green"? Think about starting at home. According to a new study by home energy meter company Sense, Tampa Bay ranked No. 4 for metro areas with the highest residential energy use.

The study looked at energy use data for homes across the country over a one-year period. Phoenix ranked No. 1 for highest home energy use, followed by San Antonio, Texas, and Dallas-Fort Worth.

California metros had the lowest electricity use, comprising half of the top five lowest energy-using metro areas. Burlington, Vt., had the lowest energy use of any metro area studied.
