Helping Employees Give
The Tampa Bay Times encourages its employees to give back to their communities with their time, talent and financial contributions. Through the Tampa Bay Times Fund, Inc., the charitable arm of Times Publishing Co., employees may take advantage of three distinct programs that provide a match to their financial donations to non-profit organizations.
1. Employee Giving: This is the annual United Way, Arts and Education fundraising campaign. It is open to current employees and retirees. Donations may be made through payroll deduction or one-time gift. Match: dollar for dollar.
2. Matching Grants to Education: This program encourages employees to support their college/university alma maters. It is open to current employees and retirees. The dollar-for-dollar match is capped at $5,000 per year per employee.
3. Matching Grants to Nonprofit Organizations: This program supports the philanthropic efforts of our employees by matching their contributions to their favorite causes (excluding organized religions or individual churches). The organizations must be recognized by the IRS as not-for-profits (501 c 3) that may receive tax-deductible contributions. The program is open only to current employees of Times Publishing. The dollar-for-dollar match is capped at $1,000 per year per employee. The minimum donation matched is $25.
Established in 1953, the Tampa Bay Times Fund, Inc., is the philanthropic arm of Times Publishing Co. It annually awards nearly $1-million in grants and scholarships to students and organizations in Tampa Bay.
