Description The Field Assistant may be assigned to multiple distribution centers for gap coverage of day-to-day business as the need dictates. The position is responsible for contributing in the development of a positive contractual relationship with the independent contractors who deliver the Times’ products. This position assists the zone in meeting service goals measured as complaints per thousand deliveries. The Field Assistant duties include assistance with prospecting, selecting, and orientation of independent contractors. The position also serves as a backup for troubleshooting open delivery areas and providing assistance maintaining electronic delivery lists. This position may assist with the oversight and mentoring of staffers including the training and providing performance feedback for Product Coordinators and Delivery Center Assistants. This position will be asked to provide input regarding the development of an expense budget and strives to ensure the company achieves its financial goals. Field Assistants must posses solid interpersonal and problem solving skills in the professional relationships with staff, independent contractors, and customers. All staff including field assistants will strive to meet customer expectations and special requests (i.e.: tube installations, placement, and product condition). The Field Assistant will conduct him/herself with the highest level of integrity, respect and urgency. The Field Assistant will be assigned tasks that will require driving a vehicle for business purposes. Must have a valid driver’s license, maintain an acceptable MVR, posses required auto insurance and provide their own transportation for business related driving tasks.
Works irregular hours or hours outside of normal office hours.

Must be able to safely perform all physical requirements including:
Walking, standing, sitting, reaching, stooping and kneeling.
Lifting newspaper bundles up to 40 lbs and similar physical movements.
Pushing and pulling 4-wheel newspaper carts weighing in excess of 200 lbs.
