NEWSROOM POSITIONS (November 1 deadline - postmarked)
Interns in the Newsroom work may be assigned to the main office in downtown St. Petersburg or to one of the newspaper's bureau offices in Clearwater, Tampa, Port Richey or Brooksville. Assignments are determined based on the needs of the respective bureaus and the experience level of the hired interns. Applications should include a cover letter, resume and copies of 5 or 6 published examples of work (clips) that show your range of experience. OR you can provide links to your published stories.

NEWS REPORTING (November 1 deadline - postmarked)
“Hands-on” experience reporting hard news and feature stories for print and for web, as assigned by an editor or as required by the beat.
Who should apply: Sophomores, juniors and seniors who have had experience at a college publication and at least one professional reporting internship.
PHOTO INTERNSHIPS (Deadlines -- see below)
Who should apply: Graduated seniors or undergraduates who are able to take 6 months away from classes. Minimum requirement is at least one professional shooting internship with a newspaper, magazine or other visual media outlet. Questions? POSITIONS IN OTHER DEPARTMENTS
MULTI-MEDIA GRAPHIC DESIGN (February 15 deadline - postmarked)
In our Marketing department, this job requires you to conceptualize, design and produce a variety of sales and marketing materials for web and print including advertisements, brochures, logos, presentations and digital ads. Who should apply: Juniors or seniors majoring in advertising graphic design or a related field with at least 3 core courses completed. Requirements: Advanced knowledge of all major graphic software applications: Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Acrobat. Proficient in web applications: Dreamweaver, Flash, HTML. Must be able to deliver projects on strategy and on time, Pre-flight files for press and ensure all electronic files are prepared properly for appropriate media output.
MARKETING and ADVERTISING (February 15 deadline - postmarked)
Interns are considered for placement in these departments: Research, ad production, sales, and marketing. Who should apply: Juniors or seniors with a demonstrated interest and experience in these areas. Requirements: Successful completion of at least 3 core courses in marketing/advertising, computer skills including Microsoft Word, Excel and Power Point. Also sales, research or ad production experience and marketing and/or event experience with a college or professional organization.
WEB DEVELOPMENT (February 15 deadline - postmarked)
With a team, the intern is responsible for the support, adaptation and development of applications that drive and/or affect all aspects of Web publishing. This internship requires the ability to successfully manage and integrate disparate systems and technologies. Responsiveness and flexibility, innovation and communication are key as you work closely with your team, other developers and staffers in other departments.
Specific Technical Skills:
1. Proficiency in J2EE/Java and PHP.
2. Basic knowledge of all facets of internet development, from back-end processing to front-end rendering.
3. Familiarity with XML, XSL, Javascript, SQL and HTML.
4. Understanding of a cross-platform, multi-tiered environment.
5. Some familiarity with Python, Perl, CSS and ColdFusion.
6. Drupal, Lucy, SOLR, Escenic, MySQL, Django, app/mobile experience a plus.
