NEWSROOM POSITIONS (November 1 deadline - postmarked)
Interns in the Newsroom may be assigned to the main office in downtown St. Petersburg or to one of the bureau offices (Clearwater, Tampa, Port Richey or Brooksville). Assignments are determined by the needs of the bureaus and the experience level of the hired interns. Applications should include a cover letter, resume and copies of 5 or 6 published examples of work (clips) that show your range of experience. OR you can provide links to your published stories. NEWS REPORTING (November 1 deadline - postmarked)
“Hands-on” experience reporting news and feature stories for print / web, self-generated or assigned.
Who should apply: Sophomores, juniors and seniors who have had experience at a college publication and at least one professional reporting internship.
PHOTO INTERNSHIPS (Deadlines -- see below)

POSITIONS IN OTHER DEPARTMENTS
MULTI-MEDIA GRAPHIC DESIGN (February 15 deadline - postmarked)
In Marketing, this job requires you to conceptualize, design and produce a variety of sales / marketing materials for web and print including print / digital ads, brochures, logos and presentations.
Who should apply: Juniors or seniors majoring in advertising graphic design or a related field with at least 3 core courses completed.
Requirements: Advanced knowledge of all major graphic software applications: Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Acrobat. Proficient in web applications: Dreamweaver, Flash, HTML. Must be able to deliver projects on strategy and on time, pre-flight files for press and ensure all electronic files are prepared properly for appropriate media output.
MARKETING and ADVERTISING (February 15 deadline - postmarked)
Interns are considered for placement in these departments: Research, ad production, sales, and marketing.
Who should apply: Juniors or seniors with a demonstrated interest and experience in these areas.
Requirements: Successful completion of at least 3 core courses in marketing/advertising, statistics, data analysis. Computer skills, including Microsoft Word, Excel and Power Point, social media skills, video skills. Also helpful: experience in sales, research, ad production, marketing and/or event planning for a college or professional organization.

ADVERTISING SALES / MARKETING INTERN (February 15 deadline)
Our advertising department provides local and national companies with multi-media solutions for growing their businesses and seeks an intern who can participate in the various stages of print and online advertising sales. This intern also will have the opportunity to work with our internal marketing team as they build our company brand through a variety of business-to-business and business-to-consumer communications and events. This intern should be prepared to work in a fast-paced team environment and will finish the internship having gained broad experience in various aspects of advertising and marketing.
Assist in the sale and execution of print and online advertising campaigns
Assist in the generation of sales leads from various competing media
Assist with the preparation of sales presentations
Assist with gathering research for specific presentation purpose
Perform analysis of marketing and sales data
Seek and analyze competitor marketing and sales materials both on and offline
Enter contact information into contact management systems
Provide support to social media sales efforts
Shadow outside sales executives in the field
Assist in creation of sales materials
Assist in creating B2B messages for email communication
Participate in sponsorship events
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with extensive knowledge of digital and social media. Experience with PowerPoint, Word and Excel is a bonus.
Marketing, Business, Advertising, Communications, or other similar areas of study.
WEB DEVELOPMENT (February 15 deadline - postmarked)
With a team, the intern is responsible for the support, adaptation and development of applications that drive and / or affect all aspects of Web publishing. This internship requires the ability to manage and integrate disparate systems and technologies. Responsiveness and flexibility, innovation and communication are key as you work closely within and across departments and with your team.
Specific Technical Skills:
1. Proficiency in J2EE/Java and PHP.
2. Basic knowledge of all facets of internet development, from back-end processing to front-end rendering.
4. Understanding of a cross-platform, multi-tiered environment.
5. Some familiarity with Python, Perl, CSS and ColdFusion.
6. Drupal, Lucy, SOLR, Escenic, MySQL, Django, app/mobile experience a plus.
