Answer         Sophomores, juniors, seniors and graduate students interested in careers in the media/news & information. Applicants must have experience at a college publication and at least one professional internship.

Question       How do I apply?
Answer         Mail your application packet, postmarked by the deadline date. You should send a cover letter, resume, and copies of 5 or 6 published clips that show the range of your work. You also may send links to your published work. Please do not send original documents, as they will not be returned. If you have questions, contact Nancy Waclawek at waclawek@tampabay.com.

Question
  Is the internship paid?
Answer         Yes. The pay is $450 for a 40-hour week, Monday through Friday. You will not be eligible to receive benefits.

Question      How long does an internship run?
Answer        Internships run 10-12 weeks, May-August. The News Photo department has 6-month internships - January-June and July-December. See the photo job description for more information.

Question      What are the application deadlines?
Answer         November 1 (postmarked) for Newsroom positions. If you are seeking a photo internship, you should aim to meet the November 1 deadline. For positions in all other departments, the deadline is February 15 (postmarked). Our internships are competitive so you would be smart to apply well before the deadline.

Question      Where are your jobs located?
Answer         They are located on the West Coast of Florida / Tampa Bay. Intern reporters typically are placed in St. Petersburg, Clearwater, Tampa, Port Richey and Brooksville. Business department internships are typically in the St. Petersburg office.

Answer         You must have a reliable, personal means of transportation that will allow you to travel within the Tampa Bay market as the work requires.

Question      Is housing provided?
Answer         We will provide local contacts for housing opportunities, but the Times Publishing Co. does not provide housing.

Question      When will I hear from you?
Answer         If you applied for the positions with a November 1 deadline, you will receive an e-mail by mid-January telling you whether or not you have been hired.  If you applied for a position with a February 15 deadline, you will hear by early April.
