For years now, Super Bowl fans have been treated to one epic halftime show after another. Prince. Tom Petty. Bruce Springsteen. What extravaganza awaits in Miami on Feb. 7? According to Sports Illustrated, it will be the Who. What?!? Of course, by saying "The Who" we mean just surviving members Roger Daltrey (who plays Ruth Eckerd Hall on Nov. 30) and Pete Townshend, right. Times pop music critic Sean Daly calls the decision "uninspired, even lazy." Ouch. Then again, a Super Bowl performer usually has something to hype — a new album, an upcoming tour. The Who has released just three albums in the last three decades. "Where's the buzz? Where's the ratings grab?" Daly demands to know. Is this the end of a great run of halftime concerts? Will next year bring the return of Up With People? So much for Won't Get Fooled Again.
