Notable

Movie spinoffs

Three new books tie into hugely popular film series.

The Essential Batman Encyclopedia (Del Rey), by Robert Greenberger, is 400 pages of background to brush up on before The Dark Knight hits screens in July.

The Indiana Jones Handbook (Quirk), by Denise Kiernan and Joseph D'Agnese, offers tips on using a bullwhip and avoiding the wrath of God, just in time to put you in synch with Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, which opens May 22.

The Moneypenny Diaries (Thomas Dunne), edited by Kate Westbrook, is a novel about the secret adventures of the coolly enigmatic secretary to M in many of the James Bond movies (next one, Quantum of Solace, is due in November).
