Appearances

James Swain (The Night Stalker) will discuss and sign his new mystery at 2 p.m. today at Waldenbooks, 7819 Citrus Park Town Center Mall.

Poet Brian Turner (Here, Bullet), a veteran of the Iraq war and winner of the Lannan Literary Fellowship, will read his poetry, as part of the University of Tampa's Writers at the University Series, at 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Scarfone/Hartley Gallery, 310 N Boulevard, Tampa.

Maxene Obenshcain-Kleier (Possessed Mentalities) will be the guest speaker at the National Alliance on Mental Illness' Chocolate Extravaganza fundraiser at 7 p.m. Friday at Banquet Masters, 8100 Park Blvd., Pinellas Park. Tickets are $60; reservations available at Nami-pinellas.org.

Tim Ohr (Florida's Natural Places) will speak on "Florida's Ultimate Nature Destinations: Affordable Outdoor Adventures in a Time of $4-a-Gallon Gas," and Rick Folstad (Cornered) will speak on "Boxing in Florida" at 1 p.m. Saturday at Book Bank USA, 10500 Ulmerton Road, Largo.
