Artist Florence Putterman discusses and signs her book in Sarasota

Artist Florence Putterman (Entwined Metaphors) will discuss and sign her book at 2 p.m. Monday at Geldbart Auditorium, Selby Public Library, 1331 First St., Sarasota.

Stanley Chestnut, emeritus professor of religious studies at Eckerd College, will lead a discussion of Marilynne Robinson's novel Gilead at noon Tuesday at Cathedral Church of St. Peter, 140 Fourth St. N, St. Petersburg. Free; lunch available, $4.

In celebration of National Poetry Month, the University of South Florida Humanities Institute and department of English present St. Petersburg poet laureate Peter Meinke (The Contracted World) reading from his work at 7 p.m. Wednesday in Room 3707, Marshall Student Center, 4202 E Fowler Ave., Tampa; and poet Dennis Hinrichsen (Cage of Water) reading at 6 p.m. Friday at USF GraphicStudio.

The University of Tampa's Writers at the University Series presents Dennis Hinrichsen reading at 7 p.m. Thursday at Scarfone-Hartley Gallery, UT, 401 W Kennedy Blvd., Tampa.

For National Poetry Month, Ruskin Southshore Regional Library presents a program by poet John Foster (Where There's a Quill) at 2 p.m. Saturday at the library, 15816 Beth Shields Way, Ruskin.
