Jeff Klinkenberg will discuss and sign his new book Pilgrim in the Land of Alligators: More Stories About Real Florida at 7 p.m. Thursday at Inkwood Books, 216 S Armenia Ave., Tampa. At 7:30 p.m. Friday, "Jeff Klinkenberg: A Book Celebration'' will take place at Studio@620, 620 First Ave. S, St. Petersburg. Klinkenberg, a writer for the St. Petersburg Times, will also appear at 7:30 p.m. Saturday at Studio@620 as part of the "Folk Art: Florida, Up South, and the Rest of America" exhibit. David Blight (A Slave No More: Two Men Who Escaped to Freedom, Including Their Narratives of Emancipation) is the featured speaker at the next installment of "The Pen is Mightier Series.'' The event will begin at 7:30 p.m. Thursday at Studio@620, 620 First Ave. S, St. Petersburg.

Local authors Ruth Carmichael Ellinger (The Wild Rose of Promise) and Debora M. Coty (The Distant Shore) will present "So You Want to Be a Writer'' at 1 p.m. Saturday at International Christian Supplies, 10919 N 56th St., Temple Terrace. For information, call (813) 985-6300.
