Edgar Allan Poe Award winner Lynne Barrett (Magpies) will read from and sign her collection of short stories set in Florida at 6 p.m. Tuesday at Bookstore1Sarasota, 1359 Main St., Sarasota.

Francis Schwartz (A Cultural Battleground: Concert Life in Puerto Rico) will read from and sign his memoir, cowritten with Donald Thompson, at 7 p.m. Wednesday at Bookstore1Sarasota.

Syndicated advice columnist Amy Dickinson (The Mighty Queens of Freeville) will sign her memoir at 6:30 p.m. Thursday at Bookstore1Sarasota.

John Jacobsen (Commodore of Errors) will read from and sign his comic novel at 7 p.m. Thursday at Inkwood Books, 216 S Armenia Ave., Tampa.

Author and environmental activist Terry Tempest Williams (The Open Space of Democracy) is the keynote speaker at the national conference of the Federation of State Humanities Councils at 7 p.m. Friday at the Renaissance Vinoy Resort, 501 Fifth Ave. NE, St. Petersburg. Her talk is free and open to the public.

Former federal prosecutor Ken Ballen (Terrorists in Love: The Real Lives of Islamic Radicals) will discuss and sign his nonfiction book at 2 p.m. Saturday at Inkwood Books.

Sasenarine Persaud (Lantana Strangling Ixora) will read from and sign his new collection of poems at 3 p.m. Saturday at New Tampa Regional Library, 10001 Cross Creek Blvd, Tampa.
