Events: Alley Cat Players to present poetry-inspired 'Becoming the Villainess'

John Capouya (Gorgeous George: The Outrageous Bad-Boy Wrestler Who Created American Pop Culture) will discuss and sign his book at 7 p.m. Thursday at Inkwood Books, 216 S Armenia Ave., Tampa.

Christopher Baker (Moon Cuba and Moon Costa Rica) will discuss and sign his travel guidebooks at 6 p.m. Friday at Inkwood Books.


The Alley Cat Players will present Becoming the Villainess, a performance art piece based on the pop culture-meets-myth poetry of Jeannine Hall Gailey, at 2 p.m. today at the St. Petersburg Main Library, 3745 Ninth Ave. N. The performance is free.

Upcoming events

Applications are now being accepted from book market vendors for the 2008 St. Petersburg Times Festival of Reading, which will take place Saturday, Oct. 25, on the campus of the University of South Florida St. Petersburg. For applications, go to or call Marisol Quiles at (727) 892-2947.
