Events: Brandon Stanton to talk about 'Humans of New York' at USF

Author, photographer and blogger Brandon Stanton (Humans of New York: Stories) will speak as part of the University Lecture Series at 8 p.m. April 5 at the Marshall Center, University of South Florida, 4202 E Fowler Ave., Tampa.

Bestselling food writer Michael Ruhlman (In Short Measures) will discuss and sign his first book of fiction at 6 p.m. April 8 at Bookstore1, 1359 Main St., Sarasota.

Author Nancy Christie (Traveling Left of Center and Other Stories) will sign her book at noon April 9 at Barnes & Noble St. Petersburg, 2501 Tyrone Blvd.

Keep St. Pete Lit's first writer in residency, New Orleans journalist and author Michael Patrick Welch (Y'all's Problem), will lead a master class in freelance writing at 1 p.m. April 9 at the Morean Arts Center, 719 Central Ave., St. Petersburg. Cost $10; reservations
