East Lake Community Library's Authors Showcase will feature Diane Marcou and Steve Lamb (The Smuggler's Ghost) talking about writing memoirs at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at the library, 4125 East Lake Road, Palm Harbor.

Croatian author and journalist Slavenka Drakulic (They Would Never Hurt a Fly) will speak as part of Genocide and Human Rights Awareness Month at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Florida Holocaust Museum, 55 Fifth St. S, St. Petersburg.

The University of South Florida's National Poetry Month Speakers Series presents Katie Ford (Colosseum) at 7 p.m. Wednesday in the Marshall Student Center Plaza Room, 4202 E Fowler Ave., Tampa.

Winners of the St. Petersburg Times-Saint Leo University Sunday Journal Writing Contest will be announced by Times assistant managing editor/enterprise Mike Wilson and Pulitzer Prize-winning reporter Lane DeGregory at a reading at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at the university library, 33701 State Road 52, Saint Leo.

Palm Harbor Library presents a benefit, Bahamian Book Bash, featuring mystery writer Bob Morris as well as live music and refreshments, at 6:30 p.m. Thursday at the library, 2330 Nebraska Ave. Tickets are $35 in advance, $45 at the door; call (727) 512-4801.

Ginny Stibolt (Sustainable Gardening for Florida) will talk about and sign her book at 7 p.m. Thursday at Inkwood Books, 216 S Armenia Ave., Tampa.

YellowJacket Press and the Artists and Writers Group present a Poetry Party in honor of National Poetry Month, featuring Jesse Millner (winner of the YellowJacket Press Chapbook Contest for Florida Poets) and more than a dozen other poets, at 6 p.m. Friday at Tre Amici at the Bunker, 1907 N 19th St., Ybor City. Admission $5.

John Foster (Discovery! A Wordcrafter's Journey) will talk about and read from his book at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at the Brandon Regional Library, 619 Vonderburg Drive.

Michael Bobelian (Children of Armenia: A Forgotten Genocide and the Century-long Struggle for Justice) will speak as part of Genocide and Human Rights Awareness Month at 6 p.m. Saturday at St. Hagop Armenian Church, 7010 90th Ave. N, Pinellas Park.
