Events: Deborah Sharp to discuss, sign book at Tampa Bay History Center

The Florida Conversations series at the Tampa Bay History Center presents Deborah Sharp (Mama Rides Shotgun) talking about and signing her mystery series set in Florida at 3 p.m. today at the center, 801 Old Water St., Tampa.

Mark McGinty (The Cigar Maker) reads from and signs his historical novel about Ybor City at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Inkwood Books, 216 S Armenia Ave., Tampa.

Forum Truth presents Newsweek columnist Jonathan Alter (The Promise: President Obama, Year One) at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at Holley Hall in the Beatrice Friedman Center, 709 N Tamiami Trail, Sarasota. Arts educator and actor Thom Vernon (The Drifts) will discuss and sign his debut novel at 7 p.m. Thursday at Inkwood Books.
