Events: Florida poet laureate Meinke to speak at Seminole Library

The Florida Bibliophile Society presents Peter Meinke, the poet laureate of Florida, reading from, discussing and signing his work at 1:30 p.m. today at Seminole Community Library, 9200 113th St. N, Seminole.

Registration is open for the fourth annual Sandhill Writers Retreat, a one-day workshop whose faculty includes Pulitzer Prize-winning Tampa Bay Times writer Lane DeGregory, novelist Rita Ciresi, poets Peter Schmitt and Erica Bernheim, comics writer Claire Stephens and Saint Leo University faculty members Patrick Crerand, Gianna Russo, Steve Kistulentz and Brooke King. The retreat will take place from 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. May 14 at Saint Leo University. Early registration through April 30; for details and registration, go to tbtim.es/gfi.
